I knew this was possible: WRT54G-controlled robot

The Linksys WRT54G….is there anything it can’t do?

I already think it’s possible to control a CNC mill with a WRT54G, but apparently someone has used one to pilot a robot, and that is fantastic.

You can already build a temperature sensor into the WRT54G (or any 1-wire device, for that matter), as somebody else has demonstrated. I wish I was more EE inclined, I’d be all over tinkering with this.

I wonder what other crazy stuff you can do with a WRT54G….hmmm…..

Until next time!

While I’ve never heard of this being done. Doesn’t surprise me in the lease bit. The WRT54G is a tiny computer (must like most electronics) with wifi, eth, and serial ports (the last being less accessible). Personally, I’m surprised that 54G’s haven’t been hacked into more devices.

Just recently I installed OpenWRT onto of these and turned it into a hardware OpenVPN gateway to send off to a remote site. It was a piece of cake, took all of an hour to learn the system and set it up. Of course it helps that I’m a Debian junkie and OpenWRT seems to be debian-eque.
